Mathura is the land of devotion. It is the land of Krishna. He is the embodiment of love for others and duty towards mankind above all. Mathura being the lord’s land, is full of selfless people and institutions devoted to the cause of humanity in its myriad forms and combinations. The land is replete with non-governmental organization working to ameliorate the suffering and pain of others. They seem to believe that even the smallest act of caring for another human being is like a drop of water in the vast pool of life but the one that will cause ripples in the entire pond. It is the belief of many of these NGOs that the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.Types of NGOs in Mathura

Grants in aid are provided to NGOs or VOs to benefit scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. There are schemes to provide free coaching to these poorer sections of the society. The schemes to empower persons with disabilities called ADIP attract a lot of funds as do the DDRS schemes. Scheme for prevention of alcoholism and substance abuse also attract several NGOs to work in that field.
Then there are charitable organizations working in several sectors to help the needy and destitute. These NGOs depend upon the charity of philanthropists. They get funds in the form of annual grants or sometimes even bequeathed in the last wills by charitable people. The NGOs workings under private funding go for fund collection drives also.
